  • I think I've posted this before, but I think it's worth a pre-post.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and
his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a
    good conversation.

They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God,
the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to
realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be
so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God
existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a
loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond
because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just
after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair
and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop
again and he said to the barber:

"You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I
am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist
because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and
untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is that people
    do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is that people don't go to Him and do not look for Him.

That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

  • Has anyone read this book? What do you think of it? It's been interesting so far.

Not much to update about. I've been taking arabic courses online. Alhumdulilah so far so good. I think I'm getting better with spelling and grammer.  Finished my 'garden'. It looks pretty cute actually. I finally found some italian parsely! They don't sell it in stores here. Just the curly parsely. So now I have parsely, basil, rosemary, mint, a bunch of different flowers and, of course, my roses. My nieghbors even came out to see it after I finish. I thought that was interesting lol

Went to Charlotte today to buy some bridal shower gifts and a new argeeli. Only ended up getting a gift for one girl, still need a gift for another. Bought some clothes for myself though. The argeeli I had my eye on was sold and the cheapest nice one he had was $90. I'm not spending that much. I could prob get it cheaper online. He said he's getting a new shipment in next week, so maybe I'll make a trip. We'll see inshAllah. After not even getting most of the things I went up there for, I ended up spending over an hour in traffic on the way home! They closed 3 lanes on the highway, so there was only one lane open. It was crazy! So right now I'm tired and my feet hurt. I hate these new heels they have now. All the high heel shoes are so thin! It's like walking on toothpicks. They look really cute, but they kill my feet.

Tommorrow should be fun inshAllah. After attending a class, then teaching a class, I have to run to the mall to buy the second gift, meet up with a friend to buy an icecream cake, then head to Kanpai of Tokyo for the bridal shower. It's supposed to be a surpise for two girls. We told girl A, it's for girl B and vise versa. We get a private room and the guy cooks the food right in front of you. First time going, never tried Japanese food before, but I've been told it's a good place. So InshAllah it'll be good.

  • I miss the blaad

Was just talking to a professor about back home. He's from Eygpt. He asked me if I was going back to Syria this year. I haven't been there since 2002. My aunts, uncles, grandparents and especially my cousins keep telling me when are you coming back! Khalas inseeteena? (You forgot about us?) I told him I wish, maybe next year InshAllah. I miss it a lot. I really want to go when my sister and her husband are able to go. It'll be so much fun. At the same time I'm holding myself from going back right now. Two main reasons. If I go alone, it will not be any fun. If I go while I'm single, they'll try more than enough to get me married.

I guess well see what happens next summer inshAllah. If I end up going or not...

On a happier note...the professor I was talking to said he's going to get me my name in hyroglifics (sp?) Is that cool or what?! lol Now I have to think of what to get him in return...

Here are some pics of my home town, Banyas. http://www.baniascc.net/ It's in arabic, but just click on the picture and youll go to a gallery. Some of those pics where I used to live!
